, Mexico — Mexican TikTok celebrity Valeria Marquez suddenly became the world's spotlight because her life ended tragically, after being shot dead while live streaming or broadcasting directly from her salon in Zapopan, Jalisco state.
Marquez, who was known for her beauty content on social media, especially TikTok and Instagram, died at the age of 23.
The influencer was widely known on social media for her engaging makeup tutorials and beauty treatments, which had earned her nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok before the tragedy. Her salon, Blossom the Beauty Lounge, had been her first venture in Jalisco.
After news of his death spread, his number of followers on Instagram soared to over 218 thousand, with thousands of netizens flooding his comments section with condolences and prayers.

Police from the Jalisco state prosecutor's office confirmed that a man pretending to be a delivery driver entered Blossom the Beauty Lounge, a salon run by Marquez, and "allegedly fired shots at the victim," killing her on the spot, AFP reported on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
This heartbreaking incident occurred on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, coinciding with the live streaming moment where Marquez had mentioned the mysterious sending of expensive gifts that occurred while he was not at the salon.

In his final video, Marquez is seen holding a doll and talking to someone off-camera. He can be heard saying anxiously, “They’re coming.”
When a voice called out to him, “Hey Vale?” he replied, “Yes,” before turning off the audio. Shortly after, the live broadcast was abruptly cut off.

Although no suspects were initially named, the following day local media named Ricardo Ruiz Velazco, known by the nicknames 'El Doble RR', 'RR', or 'El Tripa' — as a possible suspect.
Velazco is believed to be a senior member of the Jalisco Nueva Generacion Cartel (CJNG), a major criminal group operating in the area where Marquez was killed.
The motive for the murder has not yet been ascertained. However, authorities are investigating the case on suspicion of gender-based violence.
Valeria was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest and two shots to the head.
